Artist Statement

Kanye Tomiwa’s art reimagines wine corks as vessels of memory, emotion, and transformation. Each cork tells a story—a moment of celebration, reflection, or shared communion. His work captures the essence of human connection, honoring the shared rituals of toasts and gatherings that bind us to those we love and respect.

Through his sculptures, Kanye explores themes of commemoration, second chances, and new beginnings. His art reflects humanity’s resilience and the power of transformation, turning discarded materials into symbols of hope and renewal. By breathing life into wine corks destined for waste, he crafts intricate surfaces that embody both tactile beauty and profound meaning.
